CHILLSPOT Records producer and promoter, Tafadzwa Mandaza, better known as DJ Ribhe, was arraigned on charges of raping a minor.

DJ Ribhe (32) appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded him into custody after Gofa recommended that he seek bail at the High Court.

He will appear in court again on November 14 to await trial.

It is the state’s case that the 14-year-old victim lived in the same neighborhood as Ribhe in Glen Norah.

The court heard Ribhe allegedly laced her drink with drugs before raping her throughout the night.

The girl was reported missing.

According to the state draft dated Oct. 16, 2024, at approximately 4 p.m., the complainant did not return home from school after being told her father had missed school for two consecutive days.

“On October 17, 2024, at around 22:00, the complainant along with other people went to the accused place and they went to Mashwede Village, where the accused manipulated the complainant into drinking an unknown substance and smoking hookah,” the court said.

The duo allegedly went to Ribhe’s house on October 18, where the complainant regained consciousness on October 19, 2024.

“When the complainant woke up, she realized that the defendant had sexual intercourse with her without her consent,” the draft said.

On 20 October the complainant was seen in Highfields and the matter was reported.

He later interviewed his father and explained what happened.

Ribhe is represented by his lawyer Dumisani Mthombeni.
