OPP seize 55 grams of cocaine and 17 grams of fentanyl from bust

Police patrolling the town arrested the 38-year-old, who was facing 10 charges related to using credit cards, stealing property and drug possession.

A man arrested on a Collingwood street last night now faces 10 charges related to using a credit card, stealing property and possessing cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Collingwood OPP officers were patrolling the town on Spruce Street around 9pm yesterday (November 5) when they arrested Brian Zevenbergen, 38, of no fixed address.

“At this time, officers observed a male who had reasonable grounds to arrest for an incident that occurred on November 1, 2024,” a news release from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP stated. “The male was arrested and subsequently searched, at which time officers located and seized 55.1 grams of cocaine and 17.2 grams of fentanyl.”

The following accusations were made against Zevenbergen:

  • Credit Card Use (four counts)
  • Possession of Criminally Obtained Property Under $5,000 (four counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)

The defendant was transported to the Collingwood detachment to be held for a virtual bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
