Severe storm warning for Omakere, Central Hawke’s Bay – MetService

Citizens are warned to go to shelters before the storm.

Central Hawke’s Bay residents have been told heavy storms and showers are expected this afternoon.

MetService issued a severe storm warning for the region.

“At 3pm, MetService weather radar detected severe thunderstorms near Omakere. Severe thunderstorms are expected to move east-southeast and be near Omakere at 15.30.

“These showers are expected to be accompanied by heavy rain.”
