‘Curiosity is at its lowest in the early morning hours. The problem, of course, is that Donald Trump’s story has been exhausted since 2016.’

As Americans headed to the polls on Tuesday after months of tense buildup, the race initially appeared to be a neck-and-neck race.

Democrats were hoping to hold on to a trio of states — Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania — to give Harris the White House. Biden won these in 2020.

But ultimately, Harris did not improve on President Joe Biden’s performance against Trump four years ago.

Democrats were hoping to hold on to a trio of states — Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania — to give Harris the White House. Biden won these in 2020.

But Trump won them, giving him 292 delegate votes to Harris’ 224. 270 votes are needed to win the presidency.

Harris is now on track to do worse than Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

He may even be on pace to have the worst Electoral College result of any Democrat since the 1988 race.

Polls show his victory came after he made gains in nearly every voting bloc he lost in the 2020 election and brought together a multi-ethnic coalition of working-class voters.

And Harris fared worse than Biden in the 2020 contest on Tuesday among key voting groups that include women, the working class and Latinos.

“This is not what we wanted,” he said, addressing a large crowd of tearful supporters gathered at his alma mater, Howard University in Washington, D.C.

While he said he would continue his fight after Trump’s sweeping victory, he vowed to help with the peaceful transfer of power.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the former president had trailed five of the swing states and was on the verge of surpassing 300 Electoral College votes.

‘Even though I accept this election, I do not accept the struggle that fueled this campaign,’ he said.

His voice shook at times as he addressed a large crowd of supporters at his alma mater.

Before her speech, Harris called Trump to congratulate him and ask for the peaceful transfer of power and to encourage him to become president for all Americans.

President Joe Biden then called Trump and invited him to the White House, just as Michigan had been called — the fifth swing state to go in favor of Republicans.
