Man City news: You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast on playing under new managers

How does it feel when a new coach walks into the locker room? Or when you change clubs and start playing for a new boss?

Manchester United and England, who will soon be under the command of new managers, are the subject of discussion in the latest episode of You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker on BBC Sounds.

The Manchester City full-back recalls hearing from Pep Guardiola for the first time after joining City from Tottenham in 2017: “There’s an aura he carries and you stick with him. You can sit him here and everyone focuses on him. What he’s won and what he’s coached.” What the players said because of it.

“With (Mauricio) Pochettino you listened to a certain voice for a certain period of time and you heard someone else talking, that’s what impressed me.

“It was his aura. I remember sitting in the auditorium and you were sitting there and he was talking and it was like a movie. It was like: ‘Am I really here listening to you talking about your tactics with a group of players? They were basically all superstars? Is this really happening?'”
