How did it happen that the Temples suddenly became Waqf property?

Pejawar Oracle says all Temple assets should be recorded in the name of god

Davanagere: Pejawar Seer Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji He questioned the sudden classification of temples as waqf properties and expressed concern over the confusion and fear this had created among the public.

Speaking to reporters in Davangere on November 5, he criticized the State Government’s actions and urged it to focus on positive initiatives rather than creating confusion. “Temples are suddenly being defined as waqf properties, which is an alarming and disturbing situation for people. Such actions should not be done. Swamiji stated that the Government should give priority to constructive measures for the benefit of the people.

He also pointed out that even lands belonging to farmers and Mutts are now connected to Waqfs. Swamiji emphasized that the properties of Temples falling under the Religious Endowments Department should be protected first. He urged authorities to ensure that all Temple assets, big or small, are registered in the name of the deity.

“We remained silent, believing that this was our country, but slowly the properties are being transferred. “Efforts are on to register Temple properties in the name of the deity in Hassan and this needs to be done across the state,” he added.

Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha Swamiji also demanded that those responsible for the transfer of Temple properties be identified and legally punished. He expressed his approval for the visit of the Central Government team to Karnataka to assess the situation of farmers whose lands have been usurped by the Wakf Board. However, he refrained from commenting on the ongoing caste census issue.

Swamiji’s remarks highlight growing concerns over the government’s handling of temple and religious property issues and call for urgent action to protect these assets.
