Four Pakistani soldiers and five militants were killed in the clash in the northwest of the country, the army said in a statement on Thursday.

The latest violence occurred on Wednesday in the South Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which shares a border with Afghanistan.

“During the intense conflict, four brave sons of the land… fought bravely and embraced Martyrdom,” the statement said.

It was stated that 5 militants were killed in the conflict.

In the statement made by the Prime Minister’s Office, it was stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his “sorrow and sorrow” for the killing of the soldiers.

The statement said, “Our fight against terrorists will continue until terrorism is completely eliminated from the country.” The statement was included.

This follows the killing of ten Pakistani police officers in an attack on a security checkpoint last month claimed by the country’s own indigenous Taliban group, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The country has been struggling with a resurgence of militant violence in its western regions since 2021, when the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.

Islamabad accuses Kabul rulers of failing to root out militants who attack Pakistan from across the border.
