Temple Police are investigating an attack that left one person dead Thursday morning

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) – The Temple Police Department is investigating a shooting at a park Thursday morning that left one person dead.

Around 8 a.m. on Nov. 7, a police officer was near the 400 block of W. Avenue A when a person approached the officer and told him there had been an incident at a park.

The person gave the officer a description of the possible suspect and the car that fled the scene.

An officer in the area located the described car and the driver matching the individual’s description.

While the Officer attempted to perform life-saving measures on the victim at the scene, the Police Officer was able to take the suspect into custody.

MS and TFR arrived at the scene and continued life-saving measures, but the victim died as a result of his injuries. JP Wilkey announced the time of death at 8:24 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the suspect was detained and there was no threat to the public. This case is currently under investigation.
