Residents criticize HMWS&SB officials for shutting down unattended complaints

Hyderabad: Many from the city are lashing out at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), whose authorities are closing down complaints lodged by consumers without addressing the underlying issues.

Even though the board was inundated with numerous complaints about erratic water supply and sewage problems, no concrete fixes were made. Instead, authorities mark complaints as ‘resolved’ and send SMS notifications, but the issues remain unresolved.

Iqbal Khan from Hassan Nagar said, “We lodged several complaints but they were rejected without any action. We continue to endure torture.”

Similarly, Raju Reddy said that despite numerous complaints being made, “we are receiving notifications that the issue has been resolved even though it has not been resolved.”

A resident of TV Colony Ramanthapur also expressed similar concerns, adding: “I filed a complaint twice and gave detailed location information regarding water leakage but the complaint was closed without any repairs.”

Meanwhile, HMWS&SB revenue director VL .Praveen Kumar told Deccan Chronicle: “There are some complaints that maybe might have been closed unresolved, but we are trying to address and resolve most of the complaints.”

With critical services like water supply and sewerage as well as people’s lives at stake, angry citizens are demanding that HMWS&SB find permanent solutions rather than relying on shortcuts that serve no purpose.
