Woman wants battery and assault charges dropped against Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young

The woman who told police she was the ex-girlfriend of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young has recanted the statements. arrest Oct. 8 on misdemeanor charges of battery and assault.

Young’s attorney, Kim Stephens, released a statement filed by the woman to The Associated Press on Thursday, saying she “wants to make clear my desire that all charges against Colbie Young be dismissed.”

In her statement, the woman said she first notified the Athens-Clarke County Attorney’s Office on October 14, asked for the charges to be dismissed, and repeated this request “many times.” Stephens said the woman made the request public because the charges were not dropped.

According to the police report prepared after the arrest, the pregnant woman told police she went to Young’s home “to talk about their relationship.” He said the argument “escalated after I discovered he was on the phone with another woman.”

The woman told police she believed Young was “trying to hurt her,” according to the police report. The arresting officer said Young denied being responsible for the bruising, discoloration and redness the officer found on the woman and denied catching her.

“I expressly retract any statements attributed to me that imply or indicate that Colbie Young attempted to cause any harm to my unborn child or me,” the woman said in the affidavit.

The woman also said in her affidavit: “Colbie did not put his hand on me in any way that was inappropriate or unwanted during the conversation or argument. He didn’t hit me. He didn’t force me. It didn’t leave any bruising or scarring on me. He didn’t harm me in any way. “To be clear, Colbie Young did not commit any act of violence against me or my unborn child, including but not limited to simple battery, battery, or assault on the unborn child.”

No. 2 Georgia plays at No. 16 Mississippi on Saturday. While the accusations are still ongoing, there is no change in Young’s status with the team.

Stephens said in a statement that he presented the woman’s statement to the prosecutor and the University of Georgia. Stephens said the accusations against Young “must be immediately dismissed” and his suspension from the team should be lifted.

Young, a senior from Binghamton, New York, transferred to Georgia after two seasons at Miami. He has 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns in five games, including two starts.
