Defendant did not appear in court but was found guilty of burglary in Albany

A 44-year-old Schoharie County man was convicted of burglary Thursday, but the defendant wasn’t there to see it.

Patrick Corbett, of Broome, did not appear in court to hear the jury’s guilty verdict on the second-degree burglary charge, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said Corbett illegally entered a residence on County Route 12 in the town of Rensselaerville with the intent to steal property.

A sentencing date has not been set and an arrest warrant has been issued for him.
