Man arrested for allegedly stabbing teenage girl at Hyannis Dollar Tree – Boston News, Weather, Sports

HYANNIS, MASS. (WHDH) – A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday for stabbing a teenager who was standing next to his mother at a store on Cape Cod, police said.

According to the Barnstable Police Department, officers responded to the Dollar Tree at 1070 Route 132 in Hyannis around 12:38 a.m. to find a girl with stab wounds. Police said the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Nikolas Rescigno of Hyannis at the scene. Witnesses told police that Rescigno approached the girl from behind as she stood next to her mother in the store’s foyer and stabbed her in the back.

Police said Rescigno then allegedly looked at the girl and eventually dropped the knife after a witness told him so. The girl did not know Rescigno before, according to police.

He was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and an additional outstanding warrant was issued for his failure to appear in court for another case. Police said the incident involved a knife and occurred in May 2023 at the Cape Cod Mall.

Rescigno’s bail was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Barnstable District Court.
