Police say teenager accused of fatally stabbing a woman in Daytona Beach has been charged

ORLANDO, Fla.Daytona Beach police officers arrested an 18-year-old who fatally stabbed a woman.

Officers responded to a stabbing shortly after midnight Thursday at 300 Alva Circle, where they found the victim, 30-year-old Sham Telfort, dead in the bathroom of his apartment. Police have identified the suspect currently in custody as 18-year-old Chadley Joseph.

Chadley Joseph is charged with first-degree murder.

A witness who lived with both Telfort and Joseph told officers they returned to the apartment earlier that evening after spending most of the day outside. The witness, who started preparing dinner, noticed that neither Telfort nor Joseph had left their rooms for a long time. The witness got worried and went to check on them.

The witness said Joseph came out of the bedroom and closed the bedroom door for a moment, after which the witness saw Telfort’s body, unresponsive with multiple stab wounds.

Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Telfort had died. Joseph was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
