Zimbabwe: President Mnangagwa Leaves for Boko’s Inauguration

President Mnangagwa, who is also SADC President, left the country for the inauguration of President-elect Duma Boko in Botswana.

In the elections held on 30 October, President Boko’s Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) won 36 seats in parliament, followed by the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) with 15 seats, while the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) and BDP won five and four seats respectively.

The 54-year-old lawyer became Botswana’s sixth president after his swearing-in ceremony last Friday.

President Mnangangwa last week praised the success of the UDC coalition and welcomed outgoing President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s commitment to a smooth and orderly transition.
