A Richland County man was sentenced to prison after authorities found more than 400 pieces of child sexual abuse material

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A Richland County man was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said Andrew Reed was arrested in October 2023 after South Carolina Probation, Parole and Pardon Services agents searched his home in Richland County.

Agents found that Reed tested positive for drugs and was in possession of two cellphones with images of child sexual abuse material. The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said that during a comprehensive search of the devices, a total of 402 files containing material related to sexual abuse of children were discovered.

According to authorities, Reed lost the devices and was sent to III. He was designated as a Tier 1 sex offender.
