Two people accused of stealing from Dothan Animal Shelter’s new website

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – Police charged two men with stealing construction equipment from Dothan’s under-construction animal shelter.

Williams Allen Navarre, 43, of Dothan, and Bobby Gene Chandler, 50, of Atlanta, face theft charges.

“The theft was discovered on Nov. 4, when workers returned from the weekend to find items missing from the construction site,” Dothan Police Lt. Scott Owens said in a statement Friday morning.

Officers charged Navarre with one count of 1st degree Theft of Property and one count of 3rd degree Theft, which carries a total bond of $10,000. Chandler faces a total bond of $20,000 on charges of 1st degree Theft of Property and 3rd degree Theft.

“Investigators used a variety of investigative techniques, including security cameras, and identified suspects in the burglary,” Owens said.

The animal shelter is under construction along Hartford Highway near Honeysuckle Road.
