Woman accused of killing her sister faces murder and tampering charges; bail was set at 0,000

ROCHESTER, NY — Charges have been filed and bail has been granted for the accused woman, Jamie Busch. kill your sister and dumps his body in the Genesee River near Rush.

62-year-old Penny Busch was found in the river after she was reported missing. Deputies said he was last seen at his home in Honeoye Falls on Oct. 6. Deputies conducted a welfare check at the home on Oct. 11 and no one answered the door.

His body was found on October 14, and law enforcement began searching for the suspect.

Court documents (available below) allege Jamie took three of Penny’s mobile phones and threw them into the bin outside the Dunkin Donuts in the village. He then allegedly threw Penny’s body into the Genesee River.

On Friday, November 8, Jamie appeared before the judge.

The former Honeyoye Falls Middle School employee faces one count of second-degree murder and two counts of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors said the murder divided the family, while the court deemed Busch a flight risk.

“So in all cases, I believe the defendant is a flight risk. This is a major charge. This has major consequences,” Assistant District Attorney Jessica Wagner said. “And in this particular case, Mrs. Bush has no family in this area. He has no ties. My understanding is that he is no longer working with the school district. So those are all the reasons why he shouldn’t stay in this area. Why was he able to escape?

Bail was set by Judge Stephen Miller at $250,000 cash or $500,000 bond. Busch will appear in court again on January 16, 2025. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has not yet discussed the motive behind the murder.
