Rock Co. man sentenced to 30 years in prison for abusing children

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WIFR) – A Janesville man convicted of sexually assaulting multiple children over three decades was sentenced to prison in Rock County court.

Spencer Markham, 57, pleaded guilty to three counts of repeated sexual assault on a child. On November 6, Judge Ashley Morse sentenced him to 30 years in prison followed by 10 years of extended supervision. It was also decided that Markham would be on the sex offenders register for life.

The attacks involved three children and were often used as a form of punishment or payment for items, according to the Rock County District Attorney’s Office. It is stated that the attacks started in the 1990s.

One of the victims said she was abused almost every day from the age of 6 to 12.

according to Janesville GazetteMarkham’s wife, Kelly, and Markham’s son, Cody, were charged in separate investigations of abuse against one of the same victims.

Wisconsin court records show Kelly Markham, 53, pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault of a child on Nov. 6. He is expected to be sentenced on January 22, 2025.

Cody Markham, 27, is accused of continuous sexual assault of a child and incest. He is expected to appear in court on November 18.
