Rock Hill Farmers’ Market to Reopen After Being Closed for Months

ROCK HILL, — Trips to the grocery store are burning a hole in the pockets of some residents on Rock Hill’s South Side.

Some residents, such as Robert Butterfield, relied on: International Victory Gardens Farmacy Community Farmstop On Crawford Road to buy fruit and vegetables. At the farmers market, produce like lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, eggs and more were sold for a fraction of what they would cost at grocery stores.

“There’s not much for us here,” Butterfield said. “This was the closest thing we could get to getting help.”

Discounted greens ended in April when Farmacy was forced to close its doors following a severe storm. South Side residents like Butterfield had no choice but to shop at farther, more expensive stores. Butterfield now drives four miles to the nearest Food Lion. The closest store to Farmacy is Family Dollar, just under a mile away.

Even while closed, Farmacy took on a mission to help residents after severe weather. Volunteers worked with Farmacy to distribute meals and supplies. They give back to society. When we had that storm, they gave back and gave a concert,” Butterfield said.

Neighbors were unsure if Farmacy would ever open again. The store’s founder, Jonathan Nazeer, posted an announcement on Facebook saying Farmstop would be coming back thanks to the help of donors. The full article is as follows:

7 months ago on April 20th we closed our doors at Farmacy Community Farmstop not knowing when or if we would reopen, but thanks to wonderful donors and hard work we are happy to announce the Grand Reopening on Saturday, November 2nd from 10am – 3pm. .
Thank you to everyone who supported
We look forward to continuing the work of @Victorygardensinternational and “Growing the Community Together.”
