Woman identified as coroner stabbed to death in abandoned house in Dayton

Nov. 8—A woman killed in a stabbing at an abandoned house in Dayton earlier this week has been identified.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Dr. Kachele Price, 22, was pronounced dead at Miami Valley Hospital, according to Kent Harshbarger.

Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Dayton police responded to the first block of Fernwood Avenue for a report of a person stabbed.

Dayton police Lt. Mark Ponichtera said officers arrived to find three people, including two witnesses and the injured woman.

“He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital due to his injuries from the stabbing,” he said.

Two witnesses were detained. Police said that the person who stabbed the woman fled the scene.

A 911 caller told Montgomery County Regional Dispatch that the woman had been stabbed in the leg and was “bleeding like crazy.”

According to the delivery note, the caller said he did not know what happened and was sleeping.

He stated that they lived in an abandoned house. He was heard talking to people in the background of the call, but it was not clear whether they also lived in the house or how many people were there.

At one point, he told the dispatcher that the woman was unresponsive but was still breathing.

Dayton police homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
