The 2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 Sherpa features a unique setup from the standard bike with less suspension travel, lower weight and higher torque.

With the ADV segment becoming more popular in India, Kawasaki is all set to launch its most affordable mainstream off-road motorcycle in the form of the KLX 230. Start timeline The KLX 230 is due in December 2024 and is expected to fetch aggressive pricing to rival rivals like Hero Xpulse and Yezdi Adventure.

However, the new 2025 Kawasaki KLX 230 Sherpa was recently unveiled in Japan with a new design that looks much more modern and aesthetic. The KLX 230 Sherpa remains similar to the KLX 230 series, with subtle design changes and a new color palette to create a new look. Let’s take a look at the design of the new model.

We can see the company playing with colors for different finishes and combinations to create a unique look. The headlight unit appears to be the same twin LED setup, but the KLX 230 Sherpa now gets a dual-tone effect with a black windshield look. ORVMs are the same round units and the beak is the same.

Kawasaki has added knuckle guards fixed at both ends to the KLX 230 Sherpa. The front long-travel RSU telescopic forks with fork gaiters have a blacked-out finish that looks better than the KLX 230’s silver finish. The new fuel tank also looks better, with thinner tank linings. These tank covers feature multiple design elements for a modern appeal.

Less weight, more torque!

There are also new graphics on the fuel tank. Notable is Kawasaki’s application of body color to the main frame and swingarm, which looks really nice. On the KLX 230, the exhaust heat shield is finished in body color (KLX 230 Sherpa Black). This movement reduces visual intensity and adds a more elegant atmosphere.

The one-piece seat with a Monotone Black shade also reduces visual volume. The heat shield on the exhaust bend pipe near the engine is coated with KLX 230 Sherpa in Black. Apart from these changes, the KLX 230 Sherpa is very close to the standard KLX 230 in terms of powertrain and components.

The bike still rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires and single-leaf discs at both ends. The Sherpa’s ground clearance is 240 mm compared to the KLX 230’s 265 mm. The KLX 230 Sherpa also weighs 134 kg, which is 5 kg lighter than the KLX 230. While the India-specific Kawasaki KLX 230 produces 18.1 PS and 18.3 Nm of torque, the KLX 230 Sherpa produces 18 PS and 19 Nm of torque.

The suspension travel of the KLX 230 Sherpa is also lower compared to the KLX 230. Kawasaki India will launch the KLX 230 in December 2024 and there is little chance of a Sherpa version with improved aesthetics in the future.
