One of the five people arrested in the bush in Bukit Batok has been banned from entering Singapore

SINGAPORE – A man banned from entering Singapore was arrested in Bukit Batok on Nov 9, along with four other men who entered the country illegally.

Police said they detained a 23-year-old man on November 9 for being a prohibited immigrant, while four others, aged between 27 and 54, were found without valid passes and travel documents.

According to the Immigration Act, a prohibited immigrant is a person who cannot prove the ability to provide for himself or who suffers from an infectious or contagious disease, among others. They should not enter Singapore unless given a special pass.

Police said the five men were captured following an enforcement operation that started at around 12.25pm ​​in a forest area near Bukit Batok Nature Park.

At around 9 a.m. on November 9, while officers were patrolling the area, five police Special Operations Command Tactical Vehicles were seen parked along a road near the park.

Investigations continue.
