Air Itam stabbings: Husband says deceased is my legal wife

GEORGE TOWN: Ayer Itam, the husband of the woman who was fatally stabbed by a man at the elevator entrance of an apartment building in Farlim on Thursday, has denied that they had separated.

According to Sinar Harian, Mohamad Shazwan Hafizi Badrul Kamal, who is in his 30s, said that the allegations that his late wife Siti Zulaila Zulkifli, 30, had already divorced were not true.

“The claim that we broke up is not true.

“It is very sad that people spread such slander against my late wife.

“I regret this incident and the false allegations.

“This situation affected us as a family,” he said at the funeral of his late wife and father-in-law held here on Friday night, November 8.

Mohamad Shazwan said he hoped the suspect would be fairly punished for killing his wife and father-in-law.

In a double murder and suicide attempt that occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, November 7, a 32-year-old man stabbed Siti Zulaila and her father, 62-year-old Zulkifli Ibrahim, to death outside the elevator area of ​​their apartment block in Air Itam.

It was learned that the murder-suicide may have been triggered by the woman’s rejection of the man’s offers.

In the incident that occurred at around 12.54, it was determined that both victims were seriously injured and died at the scene.

The suspect was also injured after cutting and stabbing himself.

It is stated that the condition of the suspect, who is currently being treated at Penang Hospital, is stable.

He will be detained for seven days, ending on 14 November.

It was previously reported that Penang police chief Comm Datuk Hamzah Ahmad said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Homicide Act.

“We caught the suspect and seized the murder weapon.

“The case is considered solved and we are currently investigating the cause of the incident from various angles,” he said.
