Police searching for three men in connection with the rape of a girl in Leeds

Three suspects are wanted by police in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old schoolgirl in Leeds.

It is alleged the “serious sexual assault” on the teenager took place in an alley – or ginnel – in Harehills, east Leeds, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

West Yorkshire Police released CCTV footage in a bid to identify and locate the men.

Police said they believed the men knew each other and the group was thought to have traveled to the location together.

The three men, described in the CCTV footage as being of ‘average height’ and ‘slim build’, are each wearing tracksuits.

The first and third suspects are seen wearing dark-coloured tracksuits, while the second suspect is seen wearing light-coloured tracksuits.

In a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: “Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl in Leeds have released photographs of three men whom they wish to identify.

“The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 6, at a gin off Chatsworth Road in Harehills, near the junction with Sandhurst Avenue.

“Officers from Leeds Area Safeguarding Unit continue to support the victim and investigate the incident.”

Police acknowledged the “poor quality” of the released CCTV footage of the suspects but expressed hope that “someone may recognize the men as a group who were in the area at the time”.

Police have appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation by contacting Leeds Area Security Unit on 101 and quoting crime reference number 13240604436.
