Irishman arrested in connection with murder of American woman in Budapest

An Irish man has been arrested in connection with the murder of missing American woman Mackenzie Michalski, 31, in Hungary.

According to US channel ABC News, the 37-year-old man was arrested after confessing to the murder. Police claimed that the man showed the police where he hid his body.

Mackenzie “Kenzie” Michalski was last seen visiting Budapest early Tuesday, according to friends who spread the news of her disappearance.

The nurse practitioner disappeared from a nightclub in Budapest on Tuesday, according to police.

Police said they would give more details about the incident at a press conference on Saturday.

The 31-year-old man lived in Portland, Oregon and was a native of Fredonia, New York.

In a statement released Friday, Michalski’s family and friends said they were “deeply saddened to confirm a report by Hungarian police announcing the death of our beloved Kenzie.”
