A letter was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs by both states regarding the issue.

It was also stated that not only the number of state officials in the administration has decreased, but the responsibility of major departments has also been transferred to UT cadre officials.

Apart from this, the need for a shorter route to Chandigarh international airport and completion of a ring road covering Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana regions was also expressed.

Chief secretaries and senior officials from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other states, including UT counsel Rajiv Verma,

attended the meeting.

The previous meeting was held in Amritsar under the leadership of home minister Amit Shah. Meanwhile, the proposal to affiliate Punjab University to colleges in Haryana and for the universities to receive grants from the Haryana government was discussed. The Punjab government had objected to this proposal.
