Governor Whitmer signs bipartisan bill and creates special recognition license plate

MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed a bipartisan bill that will provide female veterans with the opportunity to showcase their service with a custom license plate.

“These special license plates give these brave soldiers the opportunity to share their stories and build community through their shared experiences as female veterans,” said Governor Whitmer. “Together, let’s continue to celebrate our veterans and fight for those who fought for us.”

The signed bill was sponsored by state Sen. Sylvia Santana (D-Detroit). This allows female veterans to apply to the Department of State for a “female veteran” specialty license plate, increasing recognition for female veterans and allowing them to proudly display their service.
