Western PA man found guilty in fatal New Year’s Eve road rage shooting, prosecutor says

Authorities in Westmoreland County said a Belle Vernon man was convicted of shooting and killing a 59-year-old woman on New Year’s Eve 2022.

Prosecutors say Anthony Hairston, now 29, appeared in court last week to be tried in the road rage killing of Holly Vadella.

Investigators said Hairston became “agitated” by Vadella’s driving while on his way to a local bar on New Year’s Eve 2022.

Prosecutors said multiple witnesses testified that Hairston fired two shots into his vehicle as he drove by, leading to his death.

On Friday, a Westmoreland County jury found Hairston guilty of third-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

“From the beginning, this incident was a senseless and unprovoked act of violence. I hope this decision gives Holly Vadella’s family some peace of mind. “I thank the jurors for their time and attention to this case,” said District Attorney Ziccarelli.

Hairston is scheduled to be sentenced within the next few months.
