Suspect arrested after Pelham theft spree leads to foot pursuit

PELHAM — A series of break-ins at Pelham Self Storage resulted in a dramatic foot chase and the arrest of a 29-year-old Dracut man today, according to the Pelham Police Department.

In recent weeks, officers have been investigating burglaries at the storage facility in Bridge Street, eventually concluding that the criminal had entered the site through woodland at the rear of the property.

Around 12:40 p.m., their investigation led them to search the wooded area, where they found a man later identified as Chase Bryant among the items believed to have been stolen.

While trying to detain Bryant, he fled on foot.

Although officers momentarily lost him after he crossed Bridge Street amid heavy traffic, a quick perimeter was established with the assistance of the Salem NH Police Department and the Dracut Police Department.

The search intensified after a Lori Lane resident reported a suspicious person in her backyard.

The ensuing pursuit allowed Pelham officers to apprehend Bryant.

Following a preliminary evaluation at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, he was booked at the Pelham Police Department on multiple charges including Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, and Resisting Arrest.

Bryant was held without bail and transported to Valley Street Jail, and his arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 12 in Salem District Court.

Authorities expect additional charges to come as the investigation continues.

Lt. Brian Barbato encouraged anyone with information to contact the Pelham Police Department.
