MIDLOTHIAN, Ill. (WLS) — A suspect has been detained after two teenagers were seriously injured in a stabbing in the southern suburbs on Friday night, police said.

Midlothian police officers responded to the 14500 block of Knox Avenue for a report of shots fired and possible stabbing victims just after 10:30 p.m.

Police teams arriving at the scene learned that a fight broke out between many people and two young people.

The two young people injured by the knife were taken to local hospitals in serious and critical condition.

The teams detained the suspect. This person is being held at Midlothian Police Station pending further investigation.

Midlothian detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information.
