Authorities who filed the appeal sent the records of the latest cases to the Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office, which decided that there was no need for a re-investigation.

The Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office will soon assign the case and examine whether a re-investigation is necessary.

Chief Prosecutor Shim Woo-jung is expected to lead the appeal case.

In 2020, then-Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae deprived the chief prosecutor of investigative command during the investigation phase of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the Deutsche case.

During the parliamentary audit last month, President Shim directly stated that he would fulfill his duty again if the case was transferred to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
