Gang rape of newly married woman in Rewa district

Gang rape of newly married woman in Rewa district

8 people gang raped a newlywed woman who went on a picnic with her husband in the Gurh region of Rewa district. One of the eight suspects is still at large.

Police said the suspect overpowered the survivor’s husband, beat him, then took him away from the scene and took turns raping the woman. The incident took place on October 21 and the victim filed a lawsuit the next day.

Rewa police have arrested seven of the eight accused so far on Friday.

The accused also took a video of the incident and threatened the couple that they would make the video viral on the internet if they disclosed it to anyone.

The incident took place near Bhairav Baba Sthan picnic area under Gurh police station in Rewa district, police said.

The survivor and her husband are approximately 19 years old and recently married.

Police said all the accused were between the ages of 19 and 21. They were identified as Ramkishan Kori, Deepak Kori, Ravish Gupta, Sushil Kori, Rajendra Kori, Garud Kori, Luvkush Kori and Rajnish Kori.

“7 of these defendants were arrested on Friday.

One of the accused, identified as Rajnish Kori, is at large. We have also recovered some objectionable videos from the possession of the accused,” said SP Rewa of Vivek Singh.

“All the eight accused were partying near the crime scene and at the time of the incident, five of them were at the spot and three were nearby. They too came and soon all of them executed the crime,” Singh said.

“Investigation shows that five of them raped the survivor, but as per norms, all eight have a record for rape,” Singh said.

Before committing the act, the accused beat the survivor’s husband, oppressed him and took him to a secluded place.

The incident sparked protests from Congress leaders and state Cong chief Jitu Patwari, who claimed: “An investors’ meeting was taking place in Rewa and the incident was kept under wraps by the police and management for two days. If it is not ‘Jungle Raaj’ ‘What else is this ?’

Congress leader and former CM Kamalnath posted on social media: “A shocking incident has come to light in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, where a husband was tied to a tree and his wife was gang-raped. According to the report, the newlywed couple went to a nearby area for a picnic.” When five miscreants attacked her husband and committed the crime in front of him, the perpetrators tried to silence the victim by threatening to make the video viral despite the increase in rape cases. The government’s attention in Madhya Pradesh seems to be elsewhere.

It became difficult for women to leave the house. The police administration failed to maintain law and order. The prime minister, who is also in charge of the interior ministry, has apparently handed over the state to criminals.

Crime and criminals are running rampant everywhere. The government cannot go beyond events and advertisements. “I call on the government to develop an effective plan to prevent rape in every district, through the joint efforts of the police and social organizations, and to strengthen the intelligence network to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.”
