A pupil at a Cardiff secondary school has died suddenly.

Stephen Jones, headteacher of the city’s Cardiff High School, informed parents and carers in a letter today.

Mr Jones said Cardiff High School ninth-year student Zac Trevett had died and students were offered support.

He expressed his condolences to the child’s family.

It was learned that he passed away on Sunday night, November 10th.

Students in the classroom were told about the tragedy and grief support was posted on the school’s website.

In a letter to parents and carers, Mr Jones said: ‘I am writing to inform you that your child’s class teacher has undertaken the sad task of informing the class of the sudden death of a year nine pupil – Zac Trevett.

‘When someone dies it is normal for friends and family to experience a range of emotions including sadness, anger and confusion.

‘Pupils have been informed that staff will be on hand to support them if needed and I will also be putting bereavement and bereavement guidance on the school website.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with Zac’s family at this sad time.’
