Odeon Park is looking for an artist to design public art

A city committee is seeking proposals to help renovate the newest outdoor park.

The Winnipeg Arts Council has launched a call for artists to prepare proposals for Odeon Park, located near the Burton Cummings Theatre.

“The new city park will feature an open space, a stage and plenty of seating surrounded by trees and planters,” the call for proposals states. “It will offer a peaceful, green space for rest and recreation on most days. It will come alive as a festival area and gathering space during events,” he said.

The budget of the project is 100,000 dollars and local artists can also apply.

The council said the art would be selected in a two-stage process. In the first stage, the artist’s approach and qualities will be emphasized.

The deadline for applications is December 3.
