Road rage on Long Island: Man accused of intentionally driving into woman during fight in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, Long Island (WABC) — A Long Island man has been arrested and charged after allegedly hitting a woman with his car during a road rage incident over the weekend.

John Ardolino, 41, is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, menacing and leaving the scene.

The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. Saturday when the 28-year-old victim was backing out of a parking lot on Long Beach Road.

Police said Ardolino began honking at him and prevented him from leaving in his vehicle. He then got out of the car and hit the driver’s side window while yelling at her.

Authorities say he opened his door, grabbed the victim’s arm and tried to punch him.

He left her and returned to his car. At this point, the victim got out of his car to take a photo of Ardolino’s license plate.

That’s when police said he started his car and hit the victim, forcing him onto the hood. He continued driving and eventually the victim was thrown off the hood of the car.

He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
