MSU and now Sherrone Moore And Jonathan Smithrespectively – but also for the first time since 1928 that both teams enter the game with three losses.

COMPETITION SITUATION: This is Michigan vs. Michigan State game has more energy than you think

The fact that this game wasn’t an obvious escape for the Wolverines shows both how far they’ve fallen and the step MSU has taken. UM needs to win the turnover battle and time of possession and bring the running game to a solid MSU front. But MSU feels like it can win with special teams and coaching advantage, even with a turnover or a problem in the running game. Vote: MSU 22, UM 19.

Picking MSU to win this game was a no-brainer in the summer. But that was before everyone had a chance to see U-M’s dysfunctional offense and putrid quarterback play. The last two national champions fell off the cliff and lost their last two matches due to their diminished firepower. Now they face their in-state rivals, who wrote their most complete performance of the season against Iowa, a team with a limited passing game that Michigan is starting to resemble.

MSU appears more than capable of employing the same strategy it employed against the Hawkeyes last Saturday to beat the Wolverines, who have certain matchup disadvantages on offense, defense and special teams. Vote: MSU 20, UM 16.

RAINER SABIN: Michigan’s massive setback is unacceptable. Sherrone Moore responsible

Looks like MSU is starting to figure things out UM looks lost as always. The Spartans are on the rise after last week’s big win over Iowa and should have plenty of motivation to make the Wolverines pay for last year’s 49-0 loss at Spartan Stadium. And if MSU needs more motivation, a victory could prevent UM from winning the title in a full season for the first time since 2014. Vote: MSU 22, UM 19.

When I first saw UM this fall, I thought: MSU will beat the Wolverines. And nothing I saw this fall changed my mind.

Despite how bad UM looks and all their QB issues, the Wolverines definitely have a way to win this game: Work the ball, then work it some more and do not turn it over. But the Spartans also have a way; keep doing what they’re doing, keep growing, keep improving, kick field goals while they’re there and get the ball to Nick Marsh. Here’s the big key — Aidan Chiles I can’t translate it. Vote: MSU 17, UM 14.

As the Spartans and Wolverines continue their historically heated and intense rivalry in the biggest Big Ten showdown, the prime time showdown on the Big Ten Network will prove TV executives made the wrong decision.

Chiles continues to get pressure and UM goes home early enough to disrupt the rhythm. But the greatly improved MSU defense shuts down Kalel Mullings and the Wolverines’ running game in a low-scoring affair, and Chiles leads the Spartans into field goal range long enough for Jonathan Kim to start a two-game losing streak to UM. Vote: MSU 20, UM 13.

Jared Ramsay

MSU’s defense Prowess against Iowa standout Kaleb Johnson. While there was another change at quarterback last week, he should be able to run a similar scheme against UM’s Mullings and Donovan Edwards. The Spartans’ offense will struggle to move the ball on the ground against Michigan’s front, but Chiles (nine tackles) should throw better if he can avoid turnovers. Vote: MSU 20, UM 17.

Shawn Windsor

The Spartans won’t run the ball the way they did against Iowa, but Aiden Chiles appeared to have found something against the Hawkeyes and had his most balanced game of the year. Meanwhile, the Wolverines will finally realize early that Kalel Mullings needs touches. This will help them score more than seven points like they did against Illinois. It won’t be enough. Vote: MSU 23, UM 16.
