CHB engineer arrested and dismissed for corruption

The accused, Bhuwan Chand, a JE posted in the enforcement wing of CHB, was arrested on November 5 following a complaint by Ram Darbar, a resident of Phase 2, and Vikas, an employee of BEL Factory.

Vikas told CBI that he had filed a WhatsApp complaint with CHB on September 21 regarding unauthorized construction in his neighbourhood. Frustrated by the lack of action, he continued with reminders in early October. Soon after, JE Bhuwan Chand visited his house, recorded video footage and instructed him to report to the CHB office.

When he met Chand at the CHB office on October 21, Vikas said he was informed that his own house was now under inspection for unauthorized construction. Chand allegedly warned Vikas that he would demolish CHB’s roof and virtually destroy his house if Vikas dropped his complaint against his neighbor and did not bribe him. 5,000.
