What are the requirements for Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, to obtain a license for services in India? Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia says..

The Minister said that the satellite internet services provider is in the process of completing all the requirements and they will receive the license after completing the process.

Elon Musk’s Starlink must comply with all norms to get a service license in India, Union telecommunications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Tuesday. The Minister said that the satellite internet services provider is in the process of completing all the requirements and they will receive the license after completing the process.

“In order to obtain a license, Starlink must comply with all the rules. You also need to look at it from a security perspective. They are in the process of doing this. They will receive the license after all the conditions are met.” Scindia told reporters. He was responding to a question about Starlink’s licensing status.

Currently, the government has licensed Jio Satellite Communications, a joint venture of OneWeb and Jio-SES backed by Bharti Group.

“We are ready to license anyone, including Starlink. They have to comply with all our concerns. We must see that all security concerns are addressed. There is a specific format. You need to tick all the boxes. Once you check all the boxes you will get the license. We will be very happy if they do this,” ANI quoted the Union minister as saying.
