Attack on elderly woman in Durban shocked society

Paramedics said he suffered several injuries after being shot and kicked during the incident in Glenwood on Monday.

Ward 33 councilwoman Fran Kristopher said she has been in contact with her son.

“What happened to this lady is a very traumatic experience and a large part of society is upset and does not approve of the behavior of the perpetrators who entered through the front door and attacked her. She is such a tiny, delicate lady and it is actually very bad for her to be subjected to this.”

Kristopher says attacks on elderly community members add to the growing list of criminal activity in Glenwood.

“There are hoodlums lurking around and roaming loose and the community has voiced its views on this. We have tried to draw them out of the society with our CPF and local security companies and they are also doing a lot of cable theft, meter theft and now trespassing.”

Police have been contacted for an update on the incident.
