Darlington Council warns against fake parking ticket scams

Motorists are being warned about text message and fake website scams claiming people owe money on parking tickets.

Darlington Council said it had received a “significant” number of reports from motorists saying they had received a text from authorities demanding immediate fine payment.

A second scam involves QR codes placed on pay and display parking machines that pretend to be from parking providers and redirect people to fake payment websites.

The council urged people to “be careful” and not click on suspicious links.
