Washington County man arrested following stabbing in Chipley

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A Washington County man is behind bars following a stabbing in Chipley.

Authorities arrested 27-year-old Louis Adams on Monday after receiving a call about an apparent stabbing at a residence on 2nd Street near Holley Avenue.

According to Chipley police, the fight started after the victim confronted Adams about stealing a package. Adams then reportedly pulled out a knife, causing the victim to run away.

But police said her boyfriend at the time stepped in to protect her and was then stabbed in the hand by Adams. Shortly after the incident, officers found Adams nearby.

During the arrest, they said he tried to throw away the knife as well as a glass pipe, which is often associated with drug use.

Adams is being held in the Washington County jail and faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and destruction of evidence.
