Man pleads guilty to attempted murder near NJ bike path in 2023

An Ocean County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder for his role in an incident. Stabbing from January 2023 Officials said the incident took place near the entrance of the bike track.

Harry Bray Jr., 37, of Manchester, pleaded guilty to attempted murder before Judge Kenneth T. Palmer in the fatal stabbing of a woman, authorities said.

A Brick Township police officer found a car with two flat tires in a parking lot on Cherry Quay Road at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2023, during a routine patrol, authorities said.

Authorities said the woman was lying on the ground next to the vehicle suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The woman was taken to an area hospital, where her injuries were treated and released, authorities said.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Brick Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office identified Bray as the prime suspect in the case, authorities said.

Bray was taken into custody by authorities in Manchester Township later that night, authorities said. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he has been held ever since, authorities said.

Authorities did not release any further details about the investigation.

Bray’s sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 17, and prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 18 years in prison, subject to the provisions of the No Early Release Act, authorities said.

Bray’s attorney can be immediately reached for comment.
