Delhi Airport issues fog warning as visibility reaches 0 at IGI and SpiceJet flights are affected

Delhi Airport on Wednesday warned passengers that flight movement may be affected due to fog condition in the national capital. Visibility at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) in Delhi remained at 0 as the sky of the national capital was covered with a thick layer of fog.

Budget carrier SpiceJet said in a social media post that flights may be affected due to poor visibility at the Delhi airport. The airline also advised passengers to check their flight status before arriving at the airport.

Meanwhile, ‘very poor’ air quality was recorded in Delhi for the 15th consecutive day on Wednesday. As of 8 am on Wednesday, Delhi’s average AQI stood at 361.

Although the AQI was ‘very poor’, none of the major stations in Delhi recorded an AQI of 400 or higher. AQI in Anand Vihar remained at 394, a few steps short of the 400 level.

Temperatures are also expected to drop around November 17 due to northerly winds and western disturbances.

“The northerly wind flow and westerly disturbances, which usually bring cooler air, have not fully settled in. But we expect this trend to change around November 17, after which temperatures are likely to start falling,” an IMD official told news website PTI.
