Kanpur Doctor Arrested for Stabbing Himself at Amit Shah’s Printing Machine in BKC Was Receiving Psychiatric Treatment

Mumbai: BKC police arrested a doctor from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur for allegedly entering Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s press conference at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Sunday. The accused was stated to be Shakti Bhargava, who was disguised as a journalist. After the initial examination, it was determined that the person received psychiatric treatment in his hometown.

During the incident, Bhargava reportedly took out a pair of surgical scissors, cut her abdomen and hand, and started screaming as blood began to flow. The police immediately intervened, brought him to safety and took him to the hospital for treatment.

Bhargava, 54, is no stranger to such actions. This incident marks the third time he has faced similar disruption, having previously staged self-harming protests at BJP rallies in Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, Bhargava revealed that he was motivated by a dispute over two acres of land in Kanpur and felt that the government had not offered any solution in this regard. He explained that the purpose of these dramatic actions was to draw attention to his grievances.

What Exactly Happened at the Event?

The incident took place at Amit Shah’s press conference at a hotel in BKC. Despite increased security measures, Bhargava managed to enter the venue by posing as a journalist and using a fake press card.

At around 11 a.m., he took a pair of surgical scissors from his pocket, cut his abdomen, chest and hand, then threw the scissors to the ground. Authorities later noticed that he was wearing an ID card claiming to be affiliated with an Indian newspaper; but further investigation confirmed that no journalists named him worked at the publication.

Real Identity Found After Initial Investigation

Police inspector Rajesh Gavli of BKC police station stated that Bhargava’s reactions during interrogation were evasive. A closer examination of his documents revealed his real identity, Shakti Prakash Bhargava, a doctor and owner of Bhargava Hospital in Kanpur. According to Hindustan Times, it was also revealed that he is currently receiving psychiatric treatment in Kanpur.

Bhargava has been charged with forgery, disorderly conduct and causing damage under various sections of BNS. Authorities are now working to uncover the source of the fake journalist identity. After appearing in court, Bhargava was kept in police custody until Thursday as investigations continued.
