The popular free Amazon Fire Stick TV app is shutting down in a big change – what does this mean for your favorite popular shows?

AMAZON has announced that its free streaming TV and movies app is shutting down as part of a major overhaul.

Freevee is the company’s free alternative Prime Minister VideoWith classic and original shows like Judy Justice and the Aussie soap reboot neighbors.

The service started life under the IMDb brand. Amazon it also owned it five years ago before it became Freevee in April 2022.

Even though the application and brand disappear, TV series and movies do not disappear.

Instead they will live on Prime Video with a free tag.

Freevee content was already available on both apps, and there were rumors the name might be canceled after Prime introduced ads earlier this year.

More recently, users speculated that Freevee might be discontinued after noticing that the logo no longer appeared before each episode in the Prime app and had been replaced with the latter.

“We’ve made Prime Video the premier entertainment destination where customers can personalize their viewing experience by streaming exclusive Prime member entertainment produced by Amazon MGM Studios, licensed movies and series, content from other services as add-on subscriptions, and live sports,” an Amazon spokesperson told The Sun. “Blockbuster movies and series available to rent or purchase, FAST (free, ad-supported streaming TV) channels, and the full Amazon Freevee content offering,” he told a.

“We have decided to phase out the Freevee branding to provide customers with a simpler viewing experience.

“There will be no change to the content available to Prime members, and a wealth of free streaming content will also be available to non-Prime members, including select originals from Amazon MGM Studios and a variety of licensed movies and series. An extensive library of FAST channels, all on Prime Video.” also available.”

Amazon previously denied that it planned to shut down Freevee following a report in February.

At the time, the firm told The Sun that Freevee “remains a significant streaming offering”.

Freevee’s other original programs include the crime Bosch: Legacy, which will conclude with a third and final series in 2025.

But one of the platform’s most high-profile acquisitions is Neighbors.
