Bus Driver Caught Stealing Gold from Passenger’s Bag in Nizamabad; Dismissed After Video Spread

A private bus driver working for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) in Nizamabad district was suspended on November 12 after he was reportedly caught stealing gold from a passenger’s bag.

A video allegedly shot by a passenger on the bus regarding the incident appeared on social media. In the video, the driver can be seen trying to take the jewelry from the passenger’s bag.

TGSRTC officials confirmed the incident in a statement to the press and said that the driver was dismissed soon after the incident. The driver was dismissed after the video of the incident reached them.

According to the established norms, if a passenger’s belongings are left on the bus, the driver or conductor is obliged to leave these belongings at the bus depot and try to contact the passenger.

According to information, the passenger was traveling from Warangal to Nizamabad when the incident occurred.

According to reports, the driver claimed that the gold ornament fell out of the bag after it was caught by passengers. However, he later admitted to stealing the gold.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a freight train derailed in Telangana’s Peddapalli district, leading to the cancellation of 37 trains, Southern Railway (SCR) officials said on Wednesday.

11 coaches of the freight train carrying iron ore between Raghavapuram and Ramagundam derailed.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 22:00 on Tuesday. 37 trains were canceled due to derailments.

Many more trains were partially cancelled, diverted or rescheduled, officials said.
