Application for review of hotel extension rejected

Application for review of hotel extension rejected

Campaigners whose application for a judicial review of the hotel extension was rejected say they are “disappointed” with the decision.

A High Court judge has rejected Green Belt Watch Limited’s application for judicial review into the Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel.

It was a planning exercise given in March For an already built extension of the five-star hotel owned by Arora Group.

Arora Group was owned by businessman and Conservative Party donor Surinder Arora, and the hotel was the scene of post-Brexit negotiations in 2023.

The application for judicial review was dismissed on all five counts.

A spokesperson for Green Belt Watch claimed the group introduced the app “to protect the entire London Metropolitan greenbelt from unscrupulous developers”.

They added: “We are very disappointed that we were unable to present our evidence to the court.”

Mr Arora said: “We are pleased with the court’s decision to dismiss this case and confirm that there are no grounds for judicial review.

“The correct decision was made by Runnymede Borough Council, with the court finding that the correct planning advice and procedure was followed.”

He said the costs awarded by the court would also be donated to a local cause in Englefield Green.

The current application for the treehouses currently being built at the hotel is open for public comment until December 3.
