Manipur violence: Security forces in Manipur seized a large cache of arms and ammunition during cordon and search operations in Jiribam and Churachandpur districts, police said on Thursday, days after fresh violence in the state.

According to the statement made by Manipur Police, security forces seized 1 2-inch mortar, 36 live barrel cartridges and 5 empty barrel cartridges during cordoning and search operations in Champanagar, Narayanpur and Thangboipunjre areas of Jiribam district in Çarşamba district.

Another operation in Churachandpur region

In another operation held in H Kotlian village of Churachandpur district, security forces shot one .303 rifle, one 9mm pistol, two short-range indigenous cannons, two long-range indigenous cannons, five AK 47 live bullets, two 9mm live ammunition. captured. The bullet was four 12-gauge car-case and eighteen .303 rifle-modified live ammunition, the statement said.

It is worth noting that more than 200 people have been killed, thousands have been left homeless, and additional security measures have been implemented in the affected areas in communal clashes in Meiteis and Kuki communities in the Imphal Valley since May last year.
