PGMOL investigates shocking video allegedly showing suspended referee Coote grunting ‘white powder’

New Delhi: England’s professional referees body PGMOL said it was aware of a new video showing suspended Premier League referee David Coote inhaling white powder while officiating at Euro 2024 last summer and said it was taking the allegations very seriously.

The eight-second clip, published by The Sun, comes after Coote was suspended by the Professional Game Match Authors Ltd (PGMOL) for derogatory comments he allegedly made about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and the club in previous video footage.

The UEFA Referee Committee subsequently suspended Coote until further notice ahead of upcoming UEFA matches. “When the UEFA Referee Committee became aware of David Coote’s inappropriate behaviour, he was immediately suspended until further notice on 11 November, ahead of the upcoming UEFA matches,” a statement said. When another video appeared on The Sun newspaper’s website on Wednesday evening (UK time) claiming Coote snorted white powder while buying Euros in Germany in the summer, a PGMOL told Sky Sports: “We are aware of the allegations and are taking them into account .David Coote was suspended pending the completion of a full investigation.
