McPherson women’s college football coach arrested for sex crimes

MCPHERSON, Kan. (KWCH) – A women’s soccer coach was arrested Tuesday on sex crime charges in McPherson.

Police arrested Joshua Macharia on two counts of aggravated sexual assault by force or fear. He is the head coach of the women’s soccer team at Kansas Central Christian College in McPherson.

Macharia was released on $200,000 bond.

As of Wednesday night, the college said Macharia was on administrative leave pending a full investigation. He was also banned from campus and prohibited from contacting students during the investigation.

“As an institution rooted in the Christian faith and deeply committed to the well-being of our students, we are deeply saddened and saddened by these accusations,” CCCK Director of Strategic Operations Doug Vanderhoof said in a statement. “Our primary concern is the safety and support of our students, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding our values ​​and providing a safe, respectful environment for all members of our community.”
